The Sum of All Losses

Has the gift of the fruits of paradise appeased our hunger? Has the pinnacle reached so laboriously kindled the heart anew? Should we feed on emptiness or spit it out? Or should we spit at the crying face in the mirror? As the sum of all losses falls through our fingers and it hits the ground like time frozen in glass. It never was and so it is not. Night after night. You were never here and so you are not, although the memory still wails and sobs. We were never here and so we are not. Day after day. There is nothing to lose anymore. Only grains shine in our hands. Should we spit it out or spit in their face? The boulder slips out of our grasp and falls into the darkness... but not alone. Unclear promises. Invisible truths. Their humiliating thorns have been ripped away. Unclear promises. Invisible truths. The sum of all losses has been ripped away.
